About Katy
Katy Nadeau
Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)
I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and neurodivergent person. I have experienced my own challenges of feeling ‘different’ and navigated mental health issues as I came to understand myself and my own needs. I understand how challenging and freeing it can be to process your identity, and that it is not always a linear path.
I have an MA in Counselling, Psychotherapy and Spirituality from Saint-Paul University and over 10 years of experience in the community-based and mental health sector. I have been able to see many sides and perspectives of the mental health space, which I feel has contributed to the way I work with my clients today.
My Philosophy
I believe that each person brings with them a unique history, identity and experience that deserves a safe space to unpack and explore. I aim to support you from a non-judgmental, anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, neurodivergent and LGBTQ2IA+ affirming lens. My goal is to help you understand how your lived experiences, relationships and environment contributed to how you understand yourself and the world around you.
I provide a gentle, empathetic and grounded presence to help you access feelings of safety and trust, empowering you to control the pacing of sessions and working collaboratively on goal setting. Practically, I draw from Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Parts work, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic, Somatic and Strength and Compassion-based strategies.
